1st Regional Conference on Natural Disaster

"Building Disaster Resilience in ASEAN Region"

The Conference is the first of a continuing series of regional conferences on natural disaster. Natural Disaster is a new field in the AUN/SEED-Net’s Phase III. The Conference is scheduled annually to provide a forum to collect and disseminate the most updated technology and research of regional issues and public interests in the field of natural disaster in order to contribute to the community and to draw support from industry and government sectors.

The 1st AUN/SEED-Net Regional Conference on Natural Disaster will be held on 22-23 January 2014 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The Conference is hosted by Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) – Indonesia as the Host Institution of the Natural Disaster Field, with the support from its Co-host Institutions, i.e. Institute Teknologi Bandung (ITB) – Indonesia and Chulalongkorn University (CU) – Thailand. The Conference is funded by AUN/SEED-Net and UGM.

The conference will feature both oral and poster presentations. There will also be plenary presentations on selected topics from invited speakers.

Call for Abstracts

Interested authors are requested to submit via email extended abstracts of maximum 350 words. The official language of the Conference is English. There is no specific format for abstract manuscript. The abstract should contain title, author’s name and affiliation, author’s email address, body text, and keywords.  The abstract should state clearly the objectives, results, and conclusions to properly assess the scope and nature of the paper.

The deadline for abstract submission, which was September 15, 2013, has been extended to October 16, 2013.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the Technical Committee.

  • The review of abstracts submitted on or before September 15, 2013 (Batch I) has been completed. Accepted abtracts (Batch I) have been announced directly to the authors by email on September 30, 2013. The authors are kindly requested to proceed to full abstract submission process.
  • The announcement of the abstract acceptance of those submitted on or before October 16, 2013 (Batch II) will be made public on October 23, 2013.

Call for Papers

Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to submit their full papers. Papers should adhere to the following format (please click to download): RCND full paper format.

The deadline for full paper submission is November 30, 2013.

Submitted papers will go through reviewing-and-revision process in the period of 1-15 December 2013. Final acceptance will be based on revised manuscript.

Announcement of accepted papers for presentation, which was prveviously scheduled on December 15, 2013,  has been postponed to December 31, 2013.

Selected papers will be recommended for submission to the ASEAN Engineering Journal (AEJ) upon the Author’s approval. Papers submitted to AEJ will not be published in the Conference Proceedings.

Conference participants pay registration fee either in IDR or USD in the amount of
IDR 1,000,000 or USD 100. Students are entitled to 50% discount, i.e. IDR 500,000 or USD 50.

Registration fee is waived for AUN/SEED-Net related participants as stated in the RC Guidelines.
